The views from each of our living units overlook the beautiful
Sacramento Mountains and the Lincoln National Forest. The 500,000
acres of Lincoln National Forest which border us provide limitless
opportunities for daytime nature walks or even more demanding
"expeditions." Wildlife abound. Herds of deer and elk,
troops of wild turkey, flocks of smaller birds such as the beautiful
Bluebirds, the striking Stellar's Jay and lots of humming birds
add to your enjoyment of these beautiful natural surroundings.
Even the Bald Eagle is a winter resident in the area.
New Mexico Skies offers several different modern, comfortable
housing options to fit your needs. Because we want you to feel
relaxed and at home duing your stay with us, we offer a limited
number of accommodations. Among these are two one-bedroom apartments
attached to the main lodge, two two-bedroom apartments in a duplex
cabin, two single cabins with a sleeping closet for kids and a
group/family three-bedroom cottage.
Our apartments are complete living units with separate entrances,
bedrooms, private baths, living and dining areas and fully equipped
kitchens just waiting for your groceries. All kitchens have, in
addition to a full-size refrigerator and stove, a microwave,
toaster, coffee maker, and all utensils. Each unit is furnished
with a comfortable couch, chairs, and other custom-made furniture,
and is equipped with clock radios and satellite television. All
units have private entrances with lights shielded from the observatory
area. Continue reading to find out more details about the accommodations.
Each of our two one-bedroom apartment units in the main lodge features
a compact living and dining area, a complete kitchen, a bedroom
with one full size bed, and a private bath.
Our two two-bedroom apartments are housed in a duplex cabin. Each
of the two units has two full bedrooms, a separate bath, living/dining
area, complete kitchen, and deck areas. The vew from the duplex
is the best on the mountain, and the wooded seclusion will add to
the pleasure of your stay.

All of our guests have access to the library/lounge, where you
can relax and browse our selection of books, magazines, and astronomy
reference materials as well as check your email and make brief
phone calls. The library is also the setting where we gather with
the guests each evening before or during observation to enjoy
pleasant conversation over delicious cappuccinos and lattes. We'll
also make sure there's always a pot of coffee on at night so you
can stay awake to observe as long as you want.
Our newest accommodations are these two cabins. Each
cabin has a bedroom which features a full size bed and a small room with two built-in bunks.
There is also
a small full bath, a kitchen with full size appliances, and a living and
dining area. The living room features a futon double bed couch.
The cozy atmosphere of these cabins is complemented by a spectacular
view.
Our family home is located 100 yards from the observatories on a
bluff overlooking the main lodge. This "astronomical home"
is furnished in the same style as our four individual lodge and
duplex cabin apartments. This unit has three bedrooms, one with
a queen size bed and private bath. The other two bedrooms each have
a full/twin bunk bed and share a second bath. The kitchen/dining
room and separate full living room (with two double bed futon couches)
provide plenty of relaxing space. This unit is ideal for families
and small groups.
